I’m inspired every day by the hard work and goals of the athletes that I help. Recently, I had the great fortune of coaching an athlete, Arnold Schmidt, prepare for and ride in an incredible cycling tour that would be lasting over 30 days, the PacTour Northern Transcontinental Bike Tour. This consists of 3,569 miles in 32 days from Everett WA to Rye Beach NH. Only one of those 32 days is a rest day, that being a ferry trip across Lake Michigan. The elevation gain is out of this world and most days they travel between 100-150 miles with urgency. There was even an uphill time trial on day 12. I learned a lot from this experience and am truly inspired by this feet of endurance. Anyone who has ever done long distance racing and training knows that nothing is a guarantee when you go long. Arnold tackled this challenge each day. He wrote a blog on most days of the tour chronicling the details of his experience. This is a great chance to hear first hand what it’s like to see the country by bike and what he experienced throughout this journey. Click the link below for his blog and enjoy!
